    DEFIANCE OF WOMEN WITH DISABILITY

    Get PDF
Person with disability are the socially, educationally and economically disadvantaged. And then women with disability persons are suffer lot. Analysis of the causes of disability from a medical or bio-centric standpoint tends to emphasise disease, hereditary and birth defects over systemic and environmental factors. Genetic factors and lack of access to basic services can also lead to a person becoming disabled. . Provincial commissions have reported inadequate and insufficient accommodation arrangements in schools. Information about the financial and health impacts of entering the open workplace is hard to find, there is limited or delayed access to open employment services. Some jurisdictions reported that complaints are increasing for these disabilities. While there is increased awareness about mental health, persons with mental health problems and illnesses are still facing many barriers in accessing education, including lack of services and adequate accommodation due to insufficient funding, as well as stigma and discrimination. Policy-makers might consider that the highly resource-intensive, tailored forms of support recommended here are too costly to contemplate given competing priorities

Background: Radon and its daughter product are a major source of natural radiation exposure, the measurement of radon concentration in dwellings is assuming ever increasing importance. It is known from recent surveys in many countries that radon and its progeny contributes significantly to total inhalation dose and is well established that radon when inhaled in large quantity causes lung disorder. In view of this the authors have measured Rn-222 and Rn-220 levels in dwellings of different volumes at Bangalore Metropolitan, India. Materials and Methods: Integrated and long duration measurements of radon were carried out using twin cup dosimeters with Solid State Nuclear Track Detector technique. Results: Results showed that concentrations of Rn-222, Rn-220, their progenies and dose rates in dwellings decreased with increase in room volume. Conclusions: The annual effective inhalation dose due to Rn-222, Rn-220 and their progenies from the study ranged between 0.2-4.4 with an arithmetic mean of 1.7 +/- 1.1 mSv y(-1). The dwellers of lower volumes are posed to high dose rates. Iran. J. Radiat. Res., 2012; 9(4): 231-23

    Fully Fuzzy Time-Cost Trade-Off in a Project Network - A New Approach

    Get PDF
In this paper, we propose a new approach to Fuzzy network crashing in a project network whose activity times are uncertain. The uncertain parameters in the project network are represented by triangular fuzzy numbers. By using a new type of fuzzy arithmetic and a fuzzy ranking method we propose a method for finding an optimal duration by crashing the fuzzy activities of a project network without converting the fuzzy activity times to classical numbers. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed method. Keywords: Triangular fuzzy number, fuzzy ranking, fuzzy project network, Critical path, crashing

Background: Present study was conducted with an objective to evaluate the role of ADA and lymphocyte/neutrophil ratio in the diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion in patients with exudative pleural effusion and to analyze the cause of non-tuberculous exudative pleural effusion. Methods: This hospital based observational study was conducted from August 2011 to September 2013 with a total number of 120 patients of exudative pleural effusion who were admitted in medical wards of MKCG Medical College Hospital, Berhampur, Odisha, India. Patients with transudative pleural effusion, age less than 12years and those who were haemodynamically unstable were excluded from the study. Statistical analysis was done using standard statistical techniques. Results: A total number of 120 patients with exudative pleural effusion were analyzed. 83 patients were males and 37 patients were females. Maximum no of patients were seen in the age group of 21-40 years. Total ADA was found to be >40 U/L in all cases of TB effusion. All cases of TB effusion were lymphocyte predominant with L/N ratio > 0.75. In case of exudative pleural effusion due to non-tuberculous etiology L/N ratio was 0.75 in 97 patients of tuberculous effusion and none of the non-tuberculous effusion. Combined use of ADA and L/N ratio is more efficient means for diagnosing tuberculous pleural effusion than the use of ADA alone

    On-Device Multi-Network Switching Enhancements

    Get PDF
This publication describes systems and techniques directed to on-device multi-network switching using cell measurements. The described systems and techniques include an on-device network-switching manager application that directs the user equipment to perform operations that include proceeding with a handover of a wireless connection between the user equipment and a serving cell of a first wireless network to a neighboring cell of the first wireless network. The user equipment determines that a signal received from a cell of a second wireless network meets a quality threshold. After completing the handover of the wireless connection to the neighboring cell of the first wireless network, the user equipment determines that another signal received from the neighboring cell of the first wireless network does not meet the quality threshold. The user equipment then initiates a handover of the wireless connection, between the user equipment and the neighboring cell of the first wireless network, to the cell of the second wireless network

    Trophoblast Changes in Maternal Obesity

    Get PDF
Maternal obesity has become a common metabolic dysfunction among reproductive age women affecting at least 1 in 5 women. Pregnancy complicated with maternal obesity is associated with adverse outcomes to both mother and the fetus. Maternal obesity increases the risk of adverse pregnancy outcome including pre‑eclampsia, fetal growth restriction and overgrowth and stillbirth. Recent studies show that children born to obese mother have increased adiposity and are vulnerable to develop metabolic syndromes later in their life. Placenta, which plays an important part during pregnancy and fetal development has become a major research focus of scientists around the world for its impact on fetal health. Increased evidence suggest that a maternal obesogenic environment influences placental normal function and in turn programs the developing fetus towards adverse health outcomes in adult life. Here, we briefly discuss how maternal obesogenic environment impacts placental functions and influence child health later in life

Wireless transmission is affected by fading and interference effects which can be combated with equalizer. The useof MIMO system promises good improvement in terms of spectral efficency, link relaibility andSignal to Noise Ratio (SNR).The effect of fading and interference always causes an issue for signal recovery in wireless communication. Equalizationcompensates for Intersymbol Interference (ISI) created by multipath within time dispersive channels. This paper analyses theperformance of Zeroforcing and MMSE equalizer for MIMO wireless chaneels. The simulation results are obtained usingMatLab tool box version 7.0 at RF signal processing lab.The Bit Error Rate (BER) characteristics for the various transmittingand receiveing antennna is simulated in matlab tool box and many advantages and disdvantagesof the system is descrbed. The simulation results show that the equalizer based zero forcing receiver is good for noise free channel and is successfulin remving ISI,but MMSE is a better choice than ZF in terms of BER charateristics and under Noise performance

Effect of cell-size on the energy absorption features of closed-cell aluminium foams

    Get PDF
The effect of cell-size on the compressive response and energy absorption features of closed-cell aluminium (Al) foam were investigated by finite element method. Micromechanical models were constructed with a repeating unit-cell (RUC) which was sectioned from tetrakaidecahedra structure. Using this RUC, three Al foam models with different cell-sizes (large, medium and small) and all of same density, were built. These three different cell-size pieces of foam occupy the same volume and their domains contained 8, 27 and 64 RUCs respectively. However, the smaller cell-size foam has larger surface area to volume ratio compared to other two. Mechanical behaviour was modelled under uniaxial loading. All three aggregates (3D arrays of RUCs) of different cell-sizes showed an elastic region at the initial stage, then followed by a plateau, and finally, a densification region. The smaller cell size foam exhibited a higher peak-stress and a greater densification strain comparing other two cell-sizes investigated. It was demonstrated that energy absorption capabilities of smaller cell-size foams was higher compared to the larger cell-sizes examined
